Hate Crimes & Hate Speech: OUTSpoken Speaker Series

Where does free speech end and hate speech begin? What legal rights are available to LGBT targets of hate crimes? Join James Madigan, Interim Executive Director of Equality Illinois in a lecture and discussion about hate crimes and hate speech. Dinner will be provided.

The LGBTQ Mentoring Program and the LGBTQ Programming Office are teaming up to provide discounted $5 tickets to About Face Theatre’s performance of Stupid Kids on Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 PM. The performance is at the Center on Halsted at 3656 N. Halsted on the 3rd floor.
Jump into a chaotic remix of teen pop culture from the 80's and today in JOHN C. RUSSELL'S cult classic play. About Face Theatre invites you to this retelling of Rebel Without a Cause where nobody dies in the end and everybody falls in love.
Tickets may be purchased at 5710 South Woodlawn on the following dates/times:

Gender Me: Homosexuality in the World of Islam: Queer Spirituality Series

Join us for a screening and discussion of this documentary that openly explores what it is like to be both gay and Muslim. Through the interrelated stories of a gay rights activist, a gay imam, drag artists, and others, Gender Me encourages discourse and engagement within Islam as a positive societal approach to coming to terms with sexual otherness, and seeks to advance a loving appreciation of the oneness of all humankind. Dinner will be provided.

The R. Scott Hitt Foundation Internships

The R. Scott Hitt Foundation is accepting applications for our 2009 cycle of applications. The flyer for their 2009 Internships is attached. The Hitt Foundation provides grant funding for college and post-graduate students to receive compensation for skill-building internships at pro-LGBT 501(C) non-profit organizations.
